01About the firm

Two partners, one standard, since 2009.

Mapleton & Reyes was founded in Columbus by Catherine Mapleton and Marcus Reyes on a short list of commitments: a partner on every engagement, a fixed fee before the work, and dates a client can hold us to. Thirty-eight people later, the list has not changed.

02How it started

A short list, kept.

Catherine left the assurance practice of a national firm in 2009 with one observation: clients experienced the partner for a day and the staff for a year, and paid for both as though they were the same. Marcus left a regional tax practice the same year with a similar one: the number arrived in March and the planning conversation never happened.

They opened in a two-room office near the Arena District with eleven clients and a rule that every engagement letter would name the partner, fix the fee and state the dates. The rule survived the growth. The office moved twice; the letter did not change.

Today the firm runs two practices, audit and tax, with a client accounting team between them, all from the sixth floor at 255 Marconi Boulevard. The partners still sign the work, still chair the opening and closing meetings, and still take the first call.

05The office

The office

Sixth floor, 255 Marconi Boulevard, in the Arena District: a ten-minute walk from the courthouse, the convention center and most of the banks our clients borrow from. Parking is in the garage next door; the lobby desk has the validation. Most engagements are run partly on site at the client and partly here, with the portal in between.
